The MiniSub was a highly effective mains power conditioner and distribution unit, suitable for up to six pieces of audio, digital or video electronics. The all-new Mk. 2 version, the MiniSub 2, has permanent AV and digital filtering and other enhancements to bring it well ahead of the multi award-winning original. This is the first product in the ISOL-8 range that offers true immunity from component cross contamination. The MiniSub 2 is housed in an attractively styled and mechanically stable chassis that matches other ISOL-8 products and looks good in racking with other professional equipment.
It was developed to satisfy a perceived need for features that fell between those of the ISOL-8 CleanLine 2 and the ISOL-8 SubStation 2: the MiniSub 2 has the same outlets and chassis as the CleanLine 2, but embodies more powerful line conditioning based upon the SubStation 2.
Outlets 1 and 2 are specifically for power amplifiers, video projectors, subwoofers or any other product that may draw heavy, continuous or transient power. These outlets are served by a compound filter design; which, to avoid current restriction, is implemented solely using parallel components.
Outlets 3 and 4 are specifically for analogue source components such as pre-amps, tuners, phono stages or turntables.
Outlets 5 and 6 should be used for any digital or video components such as CD player, DACs or DVDs, but can also be used for additional analogue source components.
A complex filter designed around a huge, purpose-built low frequency choke heavily filters the mains supply. This then feeds 4 individual circuits, which discretely filter outlets 3 to 6, effectively reducing cross contamination between the source components. All six outlets are optimised for different loads and are all protected at various stages against mains borne spikes.
The neutral line is fused internally to protect the transient suppression devices between the neutral and earth. The live to earth devices are protected by an external fuse located in the IEC inlet.
The front panel led indicator will show that the module is on and that both fuses are intact.
The way any product relates to either the MiniSub 2 or even the mains cable will vary. Therefore we encourage you to experiment. For the very best results in a high-resolution system always use a Qube 2 for the power amplifiers.
